Japanese Prime Minister Abe requests cancelation of large-scale events to avoid spread of the new coronavirus

Shinzo Abe, Japanese Prime Minister, requested on February 26 2020 to cancel, postpone or downsize large-scale sports or cultural events nationwide in the next two weeks to avoid further spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

On March 2, Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised the Travel Advice & Warning for Daegu City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Cheongdo-gun of South Korea to Level 3 ‘Recommendation to defer all travel’ on a four-point scale and for Lombardia, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna of Italy to Level 2 ‘Recommendation to consider whether or not to travel.'

In addition, the Japanese government rejects entries of foreigners who have stayed in Daegu City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Cheongdo-gun within 14 days before their entries into Japan, as long as they gave exceptional reasons.
