Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) reported that Japanese overseas travelers were up 5.6% year on year to 17,116,200 in 2016 (preliminary figures). In December 2016, the number was up 7.9% to 1,455,300. The results show that the outbound travel market has gradually recovered from the longstanding downturn.
