Stronger Yen encourages 60% of Japanese experienced overseas travelers to have next plans - CCC survey

Culture Convenience Club (CCC) recently conducted a survey on overseas travel to 1,504 T Card holders who experienced overseas travel in the last three years.

According to the results, the ratio of respondents who have decided to go abroad for leisure for a reason of stronger yen was 15.8%, and the ratio of those who have already booked overseas travels was 10.2%. Those who have considered overseas travel for a reason of stronger Yen totally accounted for 35.2%.

The average travel days were five days, and the average travel budget were 100,000 JPY to 200,000 JPY. The most answers in terms of the number of overseas travels in the past three years were found in ‘once’ with the ratio of 42.3%, and the ratio of ‘three times or more’ reached 37.4%.

Higher generations tended to travel abroad for leisure more frequently, as the survey shows 46.7% for ‘once’ in the age segment from 18 to 29 years old, 23.3% for ‘twice’ in the age segment from 30 to 49 years old and 18.9% for three times’ in the age segment from 50 to 69 years old.

Major purposes for overseas travel were local foods (55.3%), visiting historic or cultural heritages (51.4%) and enjoying resort life (50.5%). The most popular travel companion was friends (44.9%), followed by spouse (41.8%) and parents (19.1%).

The most want-to-go destination was Hawaii, followed by Taiwan, Italy, Australia and Spain. The most impressive destination ever was Hawaii, followed by Grand Canyon, New York City, Mont Saint-Michel and kau2-hun7 in Taiwan. Among travelers with overseas travel experiences of more than ten times, the most want-to-go destinations were Madagascar and Guiana Highlands, and the most impressive destinations ever included Rocca Guaita in San Marino and Ocho Rios in Jamaica.
