JAL appoints former cabin attendant as its first female president

JAL announced that Mitsuko Tottori will take office as new president on April 1 2024, and Yuji Akasaka, current president will become chairperson. Tottori, who came from a cabin attendant, will be the first female president for JAL.

Tottori joined Toa Domestic Airlines (Japan Air System later) as a cabin attendant in April 1985. After Japan Air System was merged into JAL in 2002, she took office as Executive Officer, Senior Vice President, Cabin Attendants in April 2020 and Senior Managing Executive Officer Senior Vice President, Customer Experience in charge of Brand Communication in April 2023. Currently, she is assigned as Senior Managing Executive Officer Senior Vice President, Customer Experience and Chief Customer Officer.
