Japanese government eases visa rules for Chinese travelers, including a new 10-years-valid multiple visa and extension of stays in Japan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has decided to ease visa rules for Chinese travelers in response to the Chinese government’s decision to restart of visa waiver and extension of valid stays from 15 days to 30 days for Japanese travelers. The Japanese decision was confirmed at a high-level meeting by both of the governments to boost exchanges of people and cultures between Japan and China. 

Japan will newly launch 10-years-valid multiple tourist visa for Chinese travelers and extension of valid stays for group tourist visa.

At a high-level meeting, they confirmed how important exchanges of young generations in order to foster human resources for mid or long-term stable diplomatic relations between Japan and China. In this sense, they will boost school trips and sports and cultural activities by high schools, colleges or local governments, for which they will firstly create model cases. 

Both of the governments aim to restore visitors to each Japan and China to the pre-pandemic levels as soon as possible, for which they will promote to create special tourist experiences and to send travelers to local areas.
