Okinawa Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCVB) announced its forecast to increase incoming tourists for the first three months of FY2022 (April to June 2022) by 113.7% year on year to 1,187,000, although the figure is still 51.7% fewer tourists than two years ago.
For this year’s Golden Week period (April 29 to May 8), OCVB has estimated that incoming visitors may reach 212,934, much more than 81,711 a year ago. According to the booking status, the occupancy rates were higher in remote islands than in mainland Okinawa.
