PCR negative certificate even before departing Japan is acceptable for a three-days or shorter overseas trip

Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan announced to ease the disputable PCR test rule for Japanese citizens, which requires a negative certificate in a destination 72 hours before returning to Japan.

The new rule is that a negative certificate even before departing Japan is accepted for a three-days (72 hours) or shorter overseas trip, which means a Japanese citizen no longer needs a negative certificate in a destination. According to that, a Japanese traveler may go for a short overseas trip more easily than before.

Nowadays more Japanese travelers cannot be back to Japan because they become positive on local PCR tests before returning to Japan, as several Japanese consulates have warned it.
