Pokemon GO supports local governments to create gamification tour maps

The first gamification tour maps using Pokemon GO for Kyoto and Fukushima Prefectures will be released jointly by the game provider Niantic and the local governments, which provide tourist information or guidelines. In Kyoto, map of Miyazu City with famous tourist spot Amanohasidate will be released in March 2017, and maps of 39 cities and villages in Fukushima will be distributed.

In the game, ‘poke-stop’ or ‘gym” will newly be added and will be printed on the map in addition to toilets, parking areas or recommended routes. Also, trash bags with monster ball painted will be provided to a local government in cooperation for tour map to encourage game players to bring trashes back.
