Recovery of Japanese outbound travelers was still slow with 1 million in November 2023

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) reported that the number of Japanese overseas travelers was down 37.5% to 1,027,100 in November 2023 compared to the same month of 2019 (1,642,333). The reduction rate improved from those in the past four months.

According to OAG, international flights departing from six major airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo) were down 16.7% to 17,338, and available seats down 15.7% to 4.08 million compared to November 2019,.Double-digit growths in both flights and seats were seen in Haneda (4,206 flights and 1,029,530 seats) and Fukuoka (1,682 flights and 362,376 seats). Nagoya still struggled with a 50% or more reduction.
