Celebrity Cruises held a celebration event for restart of Japan-based cruises with ‘Celebrity Millennium’ at Yokohama Port on September 30 2023. The cruise operator will serve four Japan-based cruises in 2023 and expand to 18 cruises in total through 2024, expecting to welcome more than 30,000 passengers on board.
Tim Jones, Celebrity Cruises Vice President, said that more than 30,000 passengers will visit local regions with Celebrity Millennium, which will give a positive impact on Japanese economy.
Celebrity Cruises enriches ‘food,’ ‘destinations,’ ‘services,’ design’ and ‘well-being’ and helps passengers stay in their own lifestyles on board, targeting travelers with cultural and intellectual curiosities.

The brand concept is expressed on ‘Celebrity Edge,’ which began commercial operations with more comfortable stay and innovative design in December 2018. Celebrity Millennium was renewed with the concept in 2019.
Customers of Celebrity Cruises are relatively young and preferred by 40s to 50s executive class or active seniors who look for different and high quality experiences. Celebrity Cruises said that their Japan-based cruises are booked by 30s to 40s couples or families with children.

Yokohama Port has restarted welcoming cruises in March 2023, and five cruises called in the port at the same time on April 28 this year, the first day of this year’s Golden Week holiday period. The port plans to receive 200 cruises in 2023, which will be more than 188 in 2019.
