Travel Voice summarizes the COVID-19-related travel restrictions between Japan and Southeast Asia and India as of May 6 2020.

The Japanese government has issued Travel Advice and Warning Level 2  (Avoid non-essential travel) all over the world since for Japanese citizens since March 25 2020.

Thailand

From Thailand to Japan

Entry refusal of foreigners who have stayed in Thailand for the last 14 days.

From Japan to Thailand 

Entry of foreigners is prohibited in principle under state of emergency declaration.

Passenger flights into Thailand are prohibited by May 31 2020 so far.

Philippines

From Philippines to Japan

Entry refusal of foreigners who have stayed in Philippines for the last 14 days.

Suspension of entries from any visa wavier countries including Japan, and suspension of visa issues until the future notice.

Malaysia

From Malaysia to Japan

Entry refusal of foreigners who have stayed in Malaysia for the last 14 days.

Vietnam

Entry refusal of foreigners who have stayed in Vietnam for the last 14 days.

Singapore

From Singapore to Japan

Entry refusal of foreigners who have stayed in Singapore for the last 14 days.

Entries of short-stay travelers and transits are prohibited. Long-term working visa holders, except public services, such as health or transportation,  are prohibited to return to Singapore.

All entries including permanent residents and long-term travelers must be isolated in designated facilities for 14 days. 

Indonesia

From Indonesia to Japan

Entry refusal of foreigners who have stayed in Indonesia for the last 14 days.

Entries and transits of foreigners are prohibited in principle.

All scheduled domestic and international flights based on Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta will be suspended by June 1 2020.

India

From India to Japan

Suspension of visa waiver and single and multi-visa that were issued by April 2.

For a humanitarian purpose, a new visa can be applied at Japanese embassies in India, however voluntary self-isolation for 14 days is required, and use of public transportation is not allowed. 

From Japan to India

All international passenger flights into India will be suspended by May 17 2020 so far.

All of the borders are closed.
