International arrivals in June 2022 were 120,000 only, despite partial reopen of the inbound travel market

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of international arrivals in Japan in June 2022 was 120,400 only, though the inbound travel market has partially reopened with the entry cap of 20,000 a day since June 1 2022.

Compared to June 2019 (2,880,041 arrivals), the result remained a 95.8% decrease. 

The largest source market in June 2022 was Vietnam with 22,900 visitors, followed by China with 14,700 visitors, South Korea with 14,700 visitors, U.S. with 9,700 visitors and Indonesia with 7,000 visitors. 

According to OAG, international flights arriving in six major airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo) were up 47.2% year on year to 3,853 in June 2022, and available seats were up 46.6% to 933,270 in total.
