New amusement park ‘JUNGLIA OKINAWA’ will open on July 25 2025, differentiating prices between residents in Japan and international visitors

KATANA, a Japanese marketing company, and Japan Entertainment, its subsidiary, announced that a new large-scale amusement park ‘JUNGLIA OKINAWA’ will open in the northern part of Okinawa Prefecture on July 25 2025. In addition, Japan Entertainment, an operator of the park, signed an official marketing partnership agreement with JTB to begin selling packaged tours on the JTB’s website and retail shops on January 29, ahead of open of the ‘JUNGLIA OKINAWA’ official booking site. 

All-inclusive I Day tickets are available at 6,930 yen (including tax) per adult and 4,950 yen per child for residents in Japan, cheaper than 8,800 yen per adult and 5,940 yen per child for international visitors. 

JTB packaged tours include ‘early park-in’ entering the park 15 minutes before regular open and usage of exclusive ‘Partner Lounge’ in the park.

“I have chased the JUNGLIA idea for 14 years,” Tsuyoshi Morioka, KATANA CEO who succeeded in reviving Universal Studio Japan (USJ) before, said. “We are making efforts to change and revitalize the tourism industry in Japan to generate revenue resources for the next generation. We will develop the success model in Okinawa in Asia in the future.” 

He also emphasized that JUNGLIA OKINAWA will be different from Disneyland or USJ, which are city-typed amusement parks mainly for day travelers. The JUNGLIA OKINAWA’s concept is ‘Power Vacance!!’ He explained, “Travelers to Okinawa seek extraordinary ‘excitement.’ They want to spend more luxury time than usual. They want to feel openness in different landscape from usual.”

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba appeared on the stage at the press conference. He said, “It is very essential for the Japanese government to develop the northern part of Okinawa,” expecting that JUNGLIA OKINAWA will become a chance to revitalize economy in Okinawa and increase income of people in Okinawa.

Ishiba also mentioned the government’s efforts to develop ground traffic infrastructures to improve accesses from south of Okinawa including Naha to north.

“There are a lot of tourism possibility in the northern part of Okinawa, including Yambaru registered as UNESCO World Heritage, and Okinawa is actually the nearest region in Japan to emerging Southeast Asia,” Ishiba said. “I hope that JUNGLIA OKINAWA and Okinawa will send a message of new Japan to the world.”

Economic ripple effect is estimated at 6.8 trillion yen for 15 years

Takeshi Kato, Japan Entertainment CEO, explained economic ripple effects by open of JUNGLIA OKINAWA. Kansai University has estimated an economic ripple effect at about 658.3 billion yen and creation of 70,045 jobs in the first business year and at about 6.8 trillion yen and 881,431 for the next 15 years. 

Based on the estimation, Kansai University values JUNGLIA OKINAWA as the project giving a big economic impact not only to Okinawa but also to entire Japan. Although Kato did not referred to concrete goals of visitors and revenue, he said, “We aim to achieve No.1 sales in Okinawa.”

20 animatronics dinosaurs welcome guests

JUNGLIA OKINAWA will open 22 attractions, 15 restaurant or cafes  and 10 retail shops. A signature attraction is ‘Dinosaur Safari,’ where 20 animatronics dinosaurs entertain guests.

‘Finding Dinosaurs’ is an attraction for guests to find lost Pachyrhinosaurus baby in the jungle, and ‘Horizon Ballon’ gives guests an opportunity to overlook nature from a ballon with a 23-meters in diameter.

Entertainment shows are offered at the outdoor stage ‘Breeze Arena’ in both daytime and nighttime, and an indoor interactive attraction for ‘Yambarukuina,’ one-of-a-kind wildlife in Okinawa, is also shown up. 

‘Spa Junglia’ has a variety of bathing facilities including onsen or a large-scale infinite bath.
