Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) reported that the number of Japanese overseas travelers was up 4.5% year on year, finally reaching 17,889,300 in 2017 (preliminary figures). Although the annual growth rate was lower than 5.6% in 2016, the outbound travel market saw recovery in two years in a row. The result in December 2017 was 1,469,000 (+0.9%).
