The latest Booking.com survey on multi-generations travelers in 11 countries and regions in Asia finds that the most popular family destination is Tokyo, and Osaka is ranked 5th. The highest-interested destination is Urayasu, a city of Tokyo Disneyland.
The biggest merit in multi-generations travel is ‘an opportunity to share common memories and to strengthen bonds with loved ones (47%),’ followed by ‘spending times with family members who cannot meet frequently (39%)’ and ‘to enjoy a variety of activities for a variety of generations (34%).’
On the contrary, difficulties in multi-generations travel are ‘concerns about safety and health conditions (30%),’ ‘difference of interests (30%)’ and ‘different favorite foods (28%).’
For planning a travel, 48% of millennial generation play a main role, and 47% of Generation Z join planning of an itinerary to meet their needs. 23% of baby boomer generation answered that they leave it to someone else.
Most of respondents said that four to six nights are appropriate for family travel. 51% answered that they do not care about last-minute booking even one month before departure.
The most important point to decide a destination is ‘safety and security (46%),’ followed by ‘affordability and cost performance (39%)’ and ‘accessibility for all generations (30%).’
42% prefers to domestic travel, while 39% to overseas travel.
