Compared foreign visitors to Japan during the Chinese New Year Holidays in February this year based on the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO)’s statistics, China was the top market with 359,100 visitors (+159.8%), followed by Korea with 321,600 (+38.9%), Taiwan with 277,600 (+45.2%), Hong Kong with 109,400 (+68.8%) and Malaysia with 19,300 (+36.8%).

Chinese New Year period changes every year, and the holiday period vary with countries like seven consecutive holidays from January 31 to February 6 in 2014 and from February 18 to 24 in 2015 in China or four consecutive holidays from January 30 to February 3 in 2014 and five consecutive holidays from February 18 to 22 in 2015 in Korea.
