Tokyo Metro and YAMAHA will begin testing a new multi-language service ‘Visualized Announcement’ transcribing voice announcements in a station on a smartphone without an app, particularly targeting foreigners or deaf and hard of hearings. In addition, a multi-language announcement app for station staff will be introduced in all Tokyo Metro stations.
‘Visualized Announcement’ consists of the app for station staff and a trigger board. By holding your smartphone over the trigger board and reading the QR code, the information announced on the app for station staff at a station will be displayed in text.
‘Visualized Announcement’ will be available at seven stations including Ueno and Asakusa on January 10 2024.
